The lost identity generation is here. Talking about lifestyles and mental health.
Who am I? Some people who will read this will think, why you even ask that. You are who you are, but these days the youth doesn’t who they are (most not all of course).
They are living in an internet area where social media is everything and people live for likes and followers. I really think social media is bad for the next generation. It ruins your self image. It ruins the fact that happiness comes from the inside out. People look up to the famous icons on social media and want to be them. You see young women doing a lot of surgeries to become the perfect icon or to look more like the Kardashians. I really believe these people ruined the youth and society and the look of what is actually beautiful. Many people will agree, but don’t speak about it cause they are powerful people of course.
Millennials are more nomadic than previous generations where you belonged more to a community. Constant shifts in location, and never living in the same space that we grew up in. We now have more freedom and space, fewer relationship commitments than ever before, compared to generations before and this has only precipitated the loneliness we feel. A lot of people feel like they belong nowhere and they turn to the web.
We are all fighting for our voice to be heard, we all want to be somebody. You see this a lot on social media. We all want to be an influencer, famous Youtuber, famous TikTokker, we all want the perfect bodies, we all want our voice to be heard. I have this feeling that emo fashion, gothic fashion and edgy fashion will be huge in the future. Talking about predicting fashion trends and brands.
Of course, not every youngster or millenial will feel this way or will lose his or her identity but I have the feeling we are facing a lost identity generation and a lot of youngster will need help.
I would like to hear your opinions, speak up!
